About:
Attack on Titan follows Eren Yeager, his foster sister Mikasa Ackerman and their childhood friend Armin Arlet. It follows the story of their lives after the wall that had been protecting them in their hometown, Shinganshina, had been breached by the Titans. Titans are similar to giant humans in structure. Eren vows to kill all the Titans after he watched his mother be devoured. Once old enough Eren enlists in the military along with his friends.
Five years later, the three cadet graduates are positioned in Trost District, one of the border towns jutting out of Wall Rose, when the Titans attack again. Now qualified cadet as cadets the three engage in a counter-attack against the Titans. During the battle Erin is eaten by a Titan while saving Armin.
Later during the battle a strange Titan appears. It is ignoring the humans while fighting the other Titans. It is later discovered that this Titan is Eren, who has somehow developed a way to transform into one. Though he is seen as a threat by some, he helps the military take back Trost District. After being placed on trial for being a danger to the humans, he is taken in by the Survey Corps’ Special Operations Squad, led by Captain Levi. It is thought that Eren’s ability to transform will be useful and that it should be tested and studied.
Season one follows Eren’s training, his ability to transform and brings up multiple questions. Quite a few characters die, early warning for those who grow attached to fictional characters.
My thoughts:
The anime was alright and I really enjoyed the concept, however I just don’t get the hype. From all the memes, images and conversations that are online I was expecting more out of it. The first time I saw episode 1 (before realizing the hype) I skipped through it and moved onto another anime. The way season 1 ended, sucked. All the tense build up and the lingering questions with no answers, what the heck is with that?! Could they not have at least given an answer to any of the questions, like what did Eren’s dad do to him? How did he get the key? What is in the basement? And to be extra cruel they give another puzzle by showing us a friggen Titan in the wall! Needless to say I went on and read the manga.
