About:

After watching a volleyball national championship match on TV, junior high school student Shōyō Hinata falls in love with the sport and idolizes the championship’s star player, nicknamed the “Little Giant”, after seeing his plays. Even though Hinata is short he hopes to follow in the “Little Giant’s” footsteps. He decides to create a volleyball club at his school and begins practicing by himself. Three years latter his club finally has enough members that they can compete in a tournament. His volleyball team is defeated during their very first match while playing against the so-called “King of the Court” Tobio Kageyama. Hinata swears that he will eventually surpass Kageyama and defeat him. Fast-forward to highschool, Hinata enters Karasuno Highschool (where the “Little Giant” use to attend) with the hopes of joining their volleyball club. Unfortunately for him, the very person he swore to surpass appears before him as one of his new teammates. Will Hinata and Kageyama be able to put their differences aside and work together as a team to help Karasuno once again rise to the powerhouse they use to be?

My Thoughts:

I am not really a big fan of sports, so my enthusiasm for sport based anime is almost non-existent. I have seen these characters on social media a lot so I decided to give it a try. The plot line is good and season one ends unexpectedly, so I was happy with it and now I am left to go hunting for season 2. The music is good and the flow of the story was gripping. The tension wasn’t overly drawn out and placed quite well. The art work is decent and the lines smooth. I really enjoy the detail and attention that has been put into this anime. I love the intense eyes of the characters as they play and they dynamics among the characters. It was pleasant to have a main character not be the genius, to not be perfect from the get go and to stuff up quite often.
