I have never really put much thought into the villains of the anime I watch. It was interesting to think about it. There were a lot of anime villains that I have looked back on and really enjoyed re-experiencing the drama of their plots and schemes. When looking at villains I prefer those that use their brains to cleverly plot their way to victory while watching from the sidelines. For me a decent villain is one who has high intelligence and use it to achieve their goals, not just their brute strength. I prefer brain over brawn so that held a lot of sway when I was considering who to list. However, once again I could not choose between two characters, so I have just decided to list both.
Izaya Orihara
Anime: Durarara!!
Izaya Orihara is a powerful and skilled underground information broker. He usually gives information for his own enjoyment, and he claims to love the entire human race, excluding Shizuo Heiwajima.Β He schemes so well planned. He loves the unpredictabilty of human nature. He greatly enjoys putting people in enjoyable or chaotic situations in order to observe their reactions. He likes to play twisted versions of checkers (usually using a combination of Chess, Othello, and Shogi pieces) with himself in his apartment, often using the chessboard as a representation of the battles in Ikebukuro, giving him the fitting appearance of one who watches over the world and controls the actions of others.
Shogo Makishima
Anime: Psycho Pass
I just recently watched Psycho Pass and instantly loved ShΕgo Makishima and his way of seeing their world. Plus the fact he is a book lover (and likes the physical books over the digital, man after my own heart!) HeΒ is a humanist on the dark side who is obsessed with cruelty, savagery, and all the worst aspects of human nature. A born evangelist, he possesses both uncommon charisma and a true gift for narrative.Β
Now you know my ‘Best anime Villains’.Β How about you?Β Who in your opinion is the best? I would really love to know! I didn’t mention Aizen from Bleach purely because I am saving him for another post :D.
Thus ends the ninth post for the challenge. To know more about the challenge click here.
From all the antagonist I came across in anime series, I must say Makishima is probably one of the best to me. I really differ in what of most bad guy in anime are. Most of the time the villain want to rule/conquer the world, but him he mainly want to free them from the system that is Sibyl.

A ‘humble’ reason to go against the ‘norm’ all for humanity

Makishima is probably the only villain I sympathise with. No agree on how he do the thing but I agree it must be done.

Oh, this is a great question! I donβt really know who the best villain is for me. I have to think about it some more. Hmm, wait, it’s probably the Undertaker from Black Bulter.
