My wife is the student council president

Recently this has kept cropping up time and again so I decided what the heck, I might as well go check it out. It is nothing like the ecchi’s I have seen before.

About:

Hayato Izumi wanted to be the student council president, however, he was completely outmatched by his rival, Ui Wakana. Ui wins in a landslide after promising liberal love while throwing condoms. He instead takes up the role as vice-president. Soon after he discovers to his horror that she is his promised bride after their parents had made a drunken promise when they were still toddlers. Ui moves in and the two need to learn to navigate school life with matrimony while making sure to keep their relationship a secret.

My Thoughts:

Most of the ecchi anime I have watched has actually had a full proper plot behind it, with actual developing characters, not just a “plot” meaning big boobs and pure fan service. My one and only other short ecchi anime has been Bikini Warriors and thankfully this time around there was some form of an actual story line and not just randomly jumping around.

I’ll just say it now I love the little purple monsters as they do a pretty good job of letting you know Izumi’s inner pervy thoughts. The story line was as simple as it could be and we did not really get much development from it. It just seemed a way to get the ball rolling for the show and a way to introduce new characters.

Speaking of the characters, we get some backstory (if you can call it that) for a few and get a rough feeling of how each character is personality wise.

When I first started watching this it took me by surprise, it took ecchi to borderline hentai at a few points but when looking at the whole and not just each little bit it is clearly a fan service ecchi. Filled with boob and panty shots you quickly grasp the aim of the show. I found it amusing to watch the antics of two teenagers going through puberty living together after the announcement that they are engaged.

Watching how Izumi tries to keep his cool and stop things from getting out of hand only to have his control snap, that was what made the fun show for me. He seems like a decent lad always trying to keep things under control but constantly tempted by the girls around him doing things that they really shouldn’t.

The one real issue I have with the show is Ui’s mother who looks like she could be 10 years old. That was a dark spot for me. Since she not only looked 10 but acted it as well.

 

 

Otherwise, this really can fit into the typical view of an ecchi. The girls have a variety of personalities, plenty of accidental face plants into boobs as well as out of control incidents. There is a hint at girl x girl and Izumi is the only guy character that has a focal point. The rest are just ‘background’.

I had a good laugh watching this and would honestly be interested in this if they made a full-length anime where they added to the actual story line and gave more time and attention to character development, I think it could be quite good.
