2018 has come and now we are 28 days in and I have completed one challenge already and have quite a few more to go this year. For 2018 I decided to be selfish this year and make it about me. I am planning to rediscover who I am and what I really want. I aim to improve my blog and make it what I had originally planned and had envisioned.
This started the 21 Day challenges that will be taking place over the year. Each challenge will be to work on myself and get me to where I want to be and who I want to be. Since there are 365 days this year I will be able to hopefully complete 17 big challenges and 17 minor challenges.
Challenge #1: Walk a minimum of 3Km every day for 21 days and I have to say I nailed it! It was hard and easy at the same time. The hard part was getting off my butt and actually doing it for all 21 days. The 3Km was the easy part. I am a walker, you want me to walk and I will walk gladly with a big smile. Want me to run or do other forms of exercise and we might hit a snag. My minor challenge was to drink 1 litre of water every day and with the walking, it was made easier to achieve since I finished a 750ml bottle every time I walked.
Below is my 21-day journey
Day 1/21 Went for a walk with my mom ❤
Day 2/21 Went for a walk again today and had fun taking photos. Mom didn’t join, she had gone out with my dad 😊
Day 3/21 We went walking to the shops and got the guys dinner 🍟 then took an unintended detour on our way home so their food was lukewarm😂 ~ was a good day with a whole lot of walking.
Day 4/21 Today went walking with a great group ❤ unfortunately my mother could not join today since she had to take my nana home. It has been a rather busy day filled with shopping, searching, swimming and a braai 🎉
Day 5/21 Today’s I was joined by Sarah, Craig and their three beautiful dogs for the 3km walk. It was really fun and a propper workout for the arm which was holding the lead 😂
Day 5/21 ~Part 2 After going for my walk my mother and I did an exercise routine and laughed a lot while remembering the lyrics to an Adel parody ~that’s not sweat, it’s my body crying~ 🤣 all I know for sure is that I will feel this in the morning😅
Day 6/21 Went walking again today and was once again joined by Sarah, Craig and the fur babies ❤ My mom also walked with 😀 was a very hot day even when we went walking early evening and the dogs were extra excited. It was really cute
Day 7/21 Today mom and I walked 5kms just to buy fruit 😂😂 So glad to have made it a third of the way with 14 days to go! Feeling good about walking 😀
Day 8/21 Around 5 our power was switched off but that didn’t stop us from walking, although it did affect our route as we avoided the main roads where the traffic lights would be out 🚦as we finished our walk we visited my uncle across the road and by the time we got home it was already late and the power was still out. Now we are eating out for supper 😊 so I don’t mind the power outage too much 😛 Just hoping it is back on when we get home and not a stolen cable 🙈
Tessa Davies 9 January · · Allowed on timeline Day 9/21 Today was cold and damp but walking with the wind and music was awesome! Really enjoyed todays walk
Day 10/21 Yesterday still getting into position😛 Was fun, Sarah and I briefly jogged (at the end😂) So going to see what happens tonight on day 11🎉
Day 11/21 47 joined us along with Jaco 😂 Was fun and would seem our group is getting bigger and bigger. It was definitely interesting introducing the dogs to one another 🐾
Day 12/21 Just got back from our walk and realized we are now past the halfway point🎉 47 is really enjoying our walks even though for him today is now day 2.
Day 13/21 My mom, the dog and I went walking with 3 unwilling participants😂 Was fun walking with my dad, brother and boyfriend. Now we have an awesome new picture to print 📷
Day 14/21 Today was me myself and I, or that was how I thought it was going to be. Then I met an unexpected blast from the past and was shown I really can move onwards and upwards without looking back at how things once were ✌
Day 15/21 Forgot to post this yesterday🙈 When we walk we drink so much water and yesterday was so hot we felt like melting! We walked earlier than normal so we jumped in the pool basically as soon as we got home to cool downand left cooking supper to Jobby 😂 well mostly, we still kind of supervised🔥👀
Day 16/21 Today was just the two of us and more of a stroll than the typical walk I had been doing. It was nice though and gave my body a bit of a break since I am rather stiff today after pushing hard the last two days. Although forced to come with he was a good sport even if he kept getting stones in his shoes and argued over which hand to hold.
Day 17/21 Today once again saw my mom, 47 and I walking 🎉 We walked fast to make it back in time for Jaco and I to go to the movies 🎥 17 days in with no breaks, walking a minimum of 3km, my body is starting to feel fatigue but I feel good. 5 days to go!
Day 18/21 Tried to take a selfie with the horse and ponies but they weren’t cooperating😂 Jobby joined as far as the cafe but then went home😅😂😅 he blames the flops he was wearing 😂
Day 19/21 Had a fun and quick walk today. Decided to get 47 in on the selfie action today 😂 he was not interested 😂
Day 20/21 Calves burning and music blaring. Today was a really good walk even if it did start to rain halfway through and a few streets away I unexpectedly helped catch escaping dogs that just wanted to say hello 🙈😂 heart attack on the spot 😂 Why are my solo walks always so entertaining?
Day 21/21 Wow I actually made all 21 days! First goal of the year done! My final day of the challenge and I was joined (unwillingly😂) by Jobby. Was a good walk with laughs and giggles and I will continue walking but at least now I can schedule a few rest days 😊. Now onto the new challenge 😝
Now that I have completed this first 21-day challenge I am continuing on with my walking and water drinking as the point is not to just do it for 21 days but to incorporate it into my daily lifestyle. I am not using resolutions because who really sticks to those? Instead, I am doing bite-sized goals and achievements. 21 days is not too long, nor is it too short.
21 DAYS TO BUILD A HABIT AND 21 DAYS TO BREAK A HABIT
I am looking forward to the next 16 challenges in store for me as the year goes on. I will be asking my readers and followers to post challenges for me as well. That way I can grow with those who follow me and develop and put out more of what they (you) would like to see. So far my next (current) challenge was presented from a Facebook follower who challenged me to have a conversation with a follower every day.
So far I really am enjoying it! Do you have any goals you are aiming to accomplish this year? What have you dedicated this year too?
Know anyone else who would enjoy this post?
