Cultivation Manhua I Am Currently Reading

I am an avid reader and I really do enjoy different types of stories and various genre. I find I learn something new from each thing I read and I love finding new styles of stories. So when I discovered the cultivation type of storyline I was drawn in quite quickly. While the format seems to follow a similar trend for each cultivation plotline they each have interesting aspects that make them clearly different from one another.

Below are five manhuas that I am currently reading that have their plot focused around cultivation.Ā They are in no particular order. I just listed them as I thought of them.

1 Douluo Dalu

  • Also known as: Soul Land
  • Author: Tang Jia San Shao
  • Original Language: Chinese

Tang San spent his life in the Tang Outer Sect, dedicated to the creation and mastery of hidden weapons. Once he stole the secret lore of the Inner Sect to reach the pinnacle of his art, his only way out was death. But after throwing himself off the deadly Hell’s Peak he was reborn in a different world, the world of Douluo Dalu, a world where every person has a spirit of their own, and those with powerful spirits can practice their spirit power to rise and become Spirit Masters.

The spirit that awakens within Tang San is Blue Silver Grass, a useless spirit. Can he overcome the difficulties to reach the high ranks of Spirit Masters and bring the glory of the Tang Sect into this new world?

As from the above images you can see that the artwork has greatly improved as the story has progressed. I am really impressed with it. I am also reading the various ones that have split off from this like Douluo Dala II – Jueshi Tangmen. This one really drew me in, especially since it was the very first cultivation manhua I had ever read.

2 Miao Shou Xian Dan

  • Author: Yu Qi Lin
  • Original Language: Chinese

The path to becoming an immortal (cultivation) of an unparalleled girl with strange powers. One day her village is attacked by bandits and she is forced to flee. She vows to become a cultivator herself, defying her grandfather’s wishes so that she can make the bandits pay for what they have done.

I love the fact that we have a female lead and have yet to see any hint of a romance. True we are only around 18 chapters in, but it is still refreshing not to have the romance aspect. I am also really enjoying the progress of the plot so far and there is enough mystery in it to keep me wanting the next chapter to get some answers.

3 Shen Yin Wang Zuo

  • Also known as: Sealed Divine Throne
  • Author: Tang Jia San Shao
  • Original Language: Chinese

While the demons were rising, mankind was about to become extinct. Six temples rose and protected the last of mankind. A young boy joins the temple as a knight to save his mother. During his journey of wonders and mischief in the world of temples and demons, will he be able to ascend to become the strongest knight and inherit the throne?

I started off this one with a meh but as the story went on I really got hooked. Plus the art just keeps getting better.

4 God of Martial Arts

  • Also known as: Peerless Martial God
  • Author: Jing Wu Hen and Yunduowudongman
  • Original Language: Chinese

In this world, respect is earned with martial arts. Weak martial artists have strengths of tens of thousands of pounds, capable of cracking boulders. And the strong ones can cut off rivers and split mountains. There are even martial kings who know everything and can travel across the universe. Martial art decides your fate as well as your life and death. The weak are humiliated while the strong look down on the world. People’s statuses are decided by the levels of their cultivation of martial arts. Each faction fights for the title of “The Strongest”. Only the strong ones have the right to survive.

I love the main character’s ruthlessness. We are 53 chapters in and I feel that the story is now getting started properly. I really look forward to the upcoming chapters.

5 Wu Dong Quian Kun

  • Also known as: Martial Movement Upheaval
  • Author: Tian Can Tu Dou
  • Original Language: Chinese

On the Journey of Self-cultivation, one requires control of yin and yang and good fortune, to reach for Nirvana, mastery over life and death as well as the power over reincarnation.

This is one of my favourites of the cultivations I am currently reading. I really enjoy all of the side characters and the development of the story as well as the main character.

Well, there you have it. I am currently reading these 5 (and more) cultivation manhua.

Are you reading any cultivation stories that I have not mentioned above?
