10 Anime I am watching this season

It’s already time for the list of the new season of anime that I shall be watching. This season has some really exciting titles coming. There are two manga adaptations that I really can’t wait for. As for the rest of the season, I am feeling somewhat meh. There are titles I am looking forward to but not with the usual excitement.

Dr. Stone

What is it about: Several thousand years after a mysterious phenomenon that turns all of humanity to stone, the extraordinarily intelligent, science-driven boy, Senku Ishigami, awakens. Facing a world of stone and the total collapse of civilization, Senku makes up his mind to use science to rebuild the world. Starting with his super strong childhood friend Taiju Oki, who awakened at the same time, they will begin to rebuild civilization from nothing. Depicting two million years of scientific history from the Stone Age to the present day, the unprecedented crafting adventure story is about to begin!

Why I want to watch it: This is one of the manga adaptations I am really looking forward to seeing. I haven’t kept up with the manga, mainly due to time constraints. Then I realised the anime release date is here and I would watch the anime. Depending on the anime, I just may go back and binge read the manga.

Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou

What is it about: Seventeen-year-old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! They’re treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction. But what should have been any otaku’s wet dream quickly turns into Hajime’s nightmare. While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime’s job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith’s level of strength?

Why I want to watch it: I AM SO HYPED FOR THIS ANIME ADAPTATION! I am obsessed with the manga and am trying to hunt down the LN. I really hope this is a good adaptation and that it will be well received. All I know is that I will be pushing this one a lot.

Try Knights

What is it about: Riku Haruma enters high school without a future in sight. He sees people playing like monsters on the ground, jumping higher than anyone else, running fast, deciding to try their best. There, he sees Akira Kariya playing rugby, a sport he was once passionate about but gave up due to his physique. While Akira is running roughly, Riku gives him a piece of advice without thinking. From that, Riku feels his dying passion for the sport set ablaze, and his future starts to brighten up.

Why I want to watch it: The poster instantly caught my attention and made me want to watch this. Then I finally read the description, and I’m still drawn in by the poster. I am curious about the type of rugby that they will play. The gear-free full-on tackling rugby or the version they play in the US…I am hoping it is the ‘proper’ rugby that I know.

Given

What is it about: “It’s stuck deep inside me and I can’t get it out of my head. Mafuyu’s voice is an insane and dangerous weapon.” That day, Ritsuka Uenoyama started to feel that playing the guitar and playing basketball, both of which he liked very much, were becoming boring. He then encounters Mafuyu Sato, who’s holding onto a broken guitar, and decides to fix it. The moment Uenoyama finishes fixing the guitar, Mafuyu becomes completely attached to him. However, after hearing Mafuyu sing it leaves a deep impression on him.

Why I want to watch it: For me, the description gives me a coming of age style anime. I am looking forward to the storytelling of this anime and I hope the characters are done properly.

Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru?

What is it about: Sakura Hibiki is your average high school girl, with a voracious appetite. Noticing her clothes tightening in lieu of her slowly expanding waistline she decides to look into enrolling in the nearby gym. There she runs into a girl from her grade named Souryuuin Akemi.

Akemi, who has a muscle fetish tries to get Hibiki to enrol in the gym despite its high ratio of macho men. Thankfully a beautiful trainer, Machio, appears and unknowingly convinces her to enrol and start her quest to a great body.

Why I want to watch it: I have a goal to exercise more but my lazy side keeps getting in the way. I have watched other exercise focused anime and found them amusing, so here I am, waiting to see how this one compares. Who knows, it may just convince me to get off my chair and to the gym.

Sounan desu ka?

What is it about: Because of a plane crash … starting today, we’re spending the springtime of our lives on a desert island! There’s nothing here, so we have to make everything! And eat everything! (Ugh!) Check out our high-school-girl survival story of courage and knowledge. We’re actually doing pretty well! We learn how to eat cicadas, how to build traps, a simple allergy test, how to eat hermit crabs, etc.

Why I want to watch it: Seeing the ecchi label makes me worried but I am going to give it the benefit of the doubt. I am hoping that this one is a fun relaxing watch.

Cop Craft

What is it about: 15 years ago, an unknown hyperspace gate opened over the Pacific. Beyond this gate lies Reto Semaani, a strange alternate world where fairies and monsters live. San Teresa City—a city where over two million immigrants live from both worlds. As a result, there are the haves and the have-nots. Here is the world’s newest “city of dreams.” But in the shadow of the chaos, crime is rampant: drugs, prostitution, and weapon trafficking. The detectives who stand up to these heinous crimes are in the San Teresa City Police. When the detective Kei Matoba and the alternate-world knight Tirana—two individuals who differ in gender, personality, and even world of origin—meet, an incident erupts.

Why I want to watch it: The synopsis kinda reminded me of Wicked City. Plus it piqued my curiosity. I want to see how they balance these different worlds and beings.

Isekai Cheat Magician

What is it about: As regular high school students Taichi and Rin disappeared in a beam of light. When they came to, the two of them were already in a world of swords and magic. Finally getting away after experiencing an attack by monsters, following the suggestion of adventurers they headed on the path towards the guild. In the guild, the two of them found out that they possessed unbelievably powerful magic. Thus the regular high school students transformed into the strongest cheats…

Why I want to watch it: Another Isekai anime in our line up. Well, another seemingly typical Isekai. Not gonna lie, I do enjoy these types of anime but I am starting to need Isekai that have more to them, a deeper story, more meaningful connections, not just summoned to another world, being op and saving the day simply. But, I shall give this one a shot and hope for a plot with depth.

Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator

What is it about: The espers of Academy City are classified into six levels, where “Level 0” lacks power while “Level 5” possesses an overwhelming amount. Of the several million espers residing in Academy City, only seven of them have attained Level 5, and ranked highest among them is the one known as Accelerator. Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator focuses on the strongest Level 5 after he protects the cheerful Last Order at the price of much of his power. Recovering at the hospital, Accelerator has led a relatively quiet life until he ends up saving the life of Estelle Rosenthal, a mysterious girl carrying a photo of Last Order.

Why I want to watch it: After Mob Psycho 100 I am looking forward to another anime with espers. This has come at the right time and I hope it can tick all the boxes for me.

Maou-sama, Retry!

What is it about: Oono Akira, a working adult that can be found anywhere, was transported to a different world while logged into a character known as the “Demon Lord” in a game he manages. There, he meets a girl with a disabled leg and they begin to travel together, but there’s no way that others will leave a “demon lord” with such overwhelming strengths alone. While being targeted by countries and saints that are trying to subdue the demon lord, they cause turmoil wherever they go.

Why I want to watch it: I need a nice light-hearted anime, but once again I am faced with a third Isekai in my list so I am hoping it can manage to stand out and actually be a memorable watch.

NEXT SEASONS

Since the below are continuations of anime, I do not really consider them to be new anime and thus don’t include them in on my season list but I still want to mention the sequels I am looking forward to.

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka II
