March is around the corner, so my insane Anime March Madness challenge is back! If you love binge-watching anime, discovering new favourites, and connecting with fellow anime fans, this challenge is for you. Are you up for the ultimate anime binge-watching challenge?

Anime March Madness snacks

Anime March Madness is an intense anime binge challenge where participants aim to complete 31 anime in 31 days—one anime per day for the entire month of March.

It sounds simple, right? Wrong. The challenge lies in commitment, pacing yourself, and choosing the right anime to keep up the momentum.

This also includes posting about each episode I watch daily—why not make it even harder for myself?

I attempted this a few years ago without a set watchlist, relying on recommendations and impulse picks. While I didn’t quite hit 31, I completed 27 anime and had a fantastic time!

This year, I’m taking a different approach by pre-selecting 31 anime to keep myself on track (though I’ll still swap some out, depending on my mood).

  • Clear your watchlist – Finally, watch those anime you’ve meant to start!
  • Discover new favourites – Step outside your usual genres and explore hidden gems.
  • Engage with the community – Connect with others taking on the challenge, share your thoughts, and get new recommendations.
  • Develop a daily anime-watching habit – Perfect for anyone who loves anime but struggles to find time for it.
  • Have fun! – Whether you’re watching alone or with friends, it’s an exciting way to experience more anime.

This challenge may sound easy, but the deception is in its simplicity. Your anime choices will make or break your experience.

Anime March Madness

Two Rules:

  • The anime you choose should preferably be completed in one day. If you select a long-running anime to watch over the 31 days, you should watch it in its entirety.
  • You need to watch the series in its entirety, including movies, OVAs, and seasons.

Guidelines from someone who has done the challenge before:

  • Try and stick to single-season anime with around 12 episodes, or pick anime with a run time of 4 hours or less.
  • You can pre-plan your watchlist or pick as you go, but having backups helps if your first choice doesn’t match your mood.

If you want to document your journey, post about each episode on your social media or blog. This can be:

  • Quick thoughts, ratings, or standout moments.
  • A reaction thread or daily summary posts.
  • Creative formats like memes, short reviews, or rankings.
