MAYONAKA PUNCH Episode 7 – Your Faves Are Adorbs, Hit That Subscribe
I love the way the episode starts with an instant recap of their now immediate goal and the consequence of their failure to meet the goal. Then to have it switch to Masaki explaining what Live did wrong with the editing of the video.

The show’s meticulous attention to detail continues to impress me, particularly the use of realistic editing software, which adds a layer of authenticity. The follow-through is also rewarding to watch. In episode five Masaki said she would teach Live, in episode six live mentions being taught and in this episode we see it happening. Not only does this reward those of us who are attentive viewers but it also reinforces the series’ sense of reliability and continuity. This commitment to serial storytelling, where narrative threads weave seamlessly between episodes, creates a captivating, immersive world that deepens my emotional investment in the characters’ journeys.

The subscribers have gone up to forty-eight thousand if I can believe the translated subtitles. Which is a big jump in numbers from episode six. I am wondering if it can be over multiple platforms.
Fū’s yell came out of nowhere and startled me. It made me glad that I had not been wearing my headphones while watching this episode. At first, I thought she was watching a romance and was shy and embarrassed but the continuation of the dialogue made me wonder if the series is lining up a collaboration with another channel for Fū in this episode. Oh, her first time subscribing to a channel. I was way off.

I am tempted to try out Masaki’s strategy, although, I feel it will be a lot of work though. Playing the numbers game huh, that is a lot of content to churn out. While I am glad the girls are getting more views with their short videos, and that they have reached the fifty-thousand subscribers mark, it is a long way off from the one million that they need. I figured the views would not impact the subscriber number all that much from the short videos. I am curious to see what the three-step plan is here. Masaki explains things so nicely. I love learning new things about the characters each week. Live is still so open about her Masaki obsession, it’s kinda cute. Tokage falling in love with a Yakuza makes complete sense. So, step two is figuring out what the viewers want, huh? That’s gonna be tough.

Finally, we’re getting some backstory on the Hype-Sisters! It’s been ages since we’ve heard anything about them or seen the other girls, I was starting to wonder if we’d ever get any more info. One of the rare times I am happy for a flashback.
The gap they went with is surprising though. I thought it would be more about their personalities and just fun times together. I’m a tad disappointed they went in the direction of trends, but trends are trending for a reason, and they need to up their subscriber numbers quickly. That plan not working out made me happy, though.

The girls putting out so much content is going to burn them out so quickly. I hope Live is helping Masaki with the editing, cause if she is doing it all on her own, there will be consequences. Masaki is adding way to much pressure to herself. There is enough there without her adding to it. Seeing Masaki stressing and overworking herself so that she does not lose the girls, and her friends, again is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. I am glad Live is paying close attention to Masaki.

The outburst was not called for and I quickly got my answer regarding the help. I found the problem, Masaki is removing the personality. So my initial feeling as to why those other videos did well. I am glad Live got upset and told Masaki to accept help – even when she was worried about how Masaki would take the news. Now Masaki wants three videos per day? She is asking for too much and taking on more than she can handle. I am starting to see why the relationship started to break down with her previous cohosts.

I am so glad that Masaki had a conversation with Fū about why she subscribed to the channel. Finally, it was said the magic word -relationship – that is the key. Fū is a passionate fangril. I am looking forward to Masaki realising what draws people in. Going to the oldest videos on the Hype-Sisters channel must be difficult for her.

I am glad that she finally realised it. I also love her apology and her explanation. She owns up to losing sight of what made the channel work.I am so grateful to Live in this episode, repeatedly telling Masaki she is not alone – even if she wasn’t hearing it. The group edit is adorable – I want to see the finished video. Why do they still have chillies up their nose? That continuity again with the strawberry outfit Ichiko wanted, I live for it. Poor Fū, she keeps having her secrets exposed. That video took them over one hundred thousand subscribers. That is impressive since the last we saw they were sitting at fifty-two thousand.

I am glad that the episode wraps up with mentioning step three – collaborations. So we got there, just not with the way I had first thought.
The weird porcupine teddy is the Hype-sisters mascot thing! That makes so much more sense now. The teddy I had seen and questioned from episode four is finally explained. Another mystery solved
