I am busy drafting Valentine’s Day posts for the blog, and I came across some really exciting news. The light novel and manhwa, Who Made Me a Princess, is getting a donghua (Chinese anime) adaptation! This news made my day, and this post derailed my other plans. I instantly started searching for information regarding the release, and below is what I have learned.
At the 2023 iQiyi World Conference, the highly anticipated animation of Who Made Me a Princess was officially announced. The adaptation is set to closely follow the source material but will be making changes where needed to make the story work with the animation.
The beautiful Athanasia was killed at the hands of her own biological father, Claude de Alger Obelia, the cold-blooded emperor! It’s just a silly bedtime story… until one woman wakes up to suddenly find she’s become that unfortunate princess! She needs a plan to survive her doomed fate, and time is running out. Will she go with Plan A, live as quietly as possible without being noticed by the infamous emperor? Plan B, collect enough money to escape the palace? Or will she be stuck with plan C, sweet-talking her way into her father’s good graces?!

Huh, I wonder why it’s going to be a donghua instead of an anime? Usually it’s Japanese studios that pick up Korean manhwa for adaptations. I mean, it’s a great story, so as long as they follow the source material it’s going to be good, it’s just a little surprising.
