MAYONAKA PUNCH Episode 6 – Ichiko’s Wish
Oh, nice, we start off with a bit of information about the channel. They have up to thirty thousand subscribers, and their Desert Island survival video has up to two hundred thousand views. I would say that their channel is doing well. Sometimes I wish we could see the edited video, though. I adore that Ichiko is socialising with children; they are on the same mental wavelength. Tokage is truly a destructive being.

I thought the Banpia Manor was far enough away from the main town that their supernatural shenanigans would go unnoticed. However, the destruction ending up on the local news was a delightful surprise. That damage is more than I thought. Just what on earth happened for the vampires to be so apologetic? I hope we finally meet the mysterious ‘Mother’ mentioned back in episode two.

Yuki is growing on me as a character. I enjoy how consistent and reliable she is. I can’t believe it never occurred to me that the vampires would mix alcohol with the blood. The scene surprised me, and that looked to be a 1:1 ratio. That is going to be a strong alcoholic drink. No wonder it ended the way it did. That wall was a team effort. That explains the truly apologetic stances of everyone—including Masaki. Deciding to move the vampires and demolish the house seems to be a big decision, yet I can see how it was made. I adore that Yuki gets straight to the point and is blunt.
Mother is strong. The severing and reattachment of the limbs were way too casual. I am with Masaki on this one. We still didn’t get to see Mother! So frustrating. I was hoping she would make a grand entrance.

I appreciate that the series makes Live’s alternative motives way too obvious. Seeing that Ichiko is trying to keep the group together and that Live is tagging along as she talks with each resident is heartwarming to see. Then that person goes along with them to the next resident. I am surprised that only Ichiko seems to be bothered, among the vampires, about losing their home—where they have spent decades, if not centuries. Ichiko is one hundred and ten and was originally a human?!
I am so glad that we are finally learning more about the vampires of that world. Like in their world, humans become vampires when vampire blood enters the human body. I am surprised we are learning this from Ichiko. Although, it makes sense. I figure this shouldn’t be common knowledge, and the others are careful with whom they share that information. I think I am most shocked at the fact that Ichiko is not a natural blonde. Her story is sad, though. I wonder if their hair change is part of their vampire traits.

It must make the vampires sad to see Ichiko once again sitting alone at a table with food, waiting for them. Masaki, hangry and calling out the vampires for not sticking up for their friend, made my night. Her garlic outfit, though, is a tad ridiculous. Another montage of the group doing stuff. I really do enjoy these sequences.

I just want to see what Mother looks like!
Playing a song using bells as proof of their growth and teamwork is an interesting concept. Yet, I suppose it works since most of the vampires we met are inherently selfish. Yuki does not look amused. Poor Ichiko, she has been told she is a bother so many times this episode.

I am glad Masaki took that video of them all eating together. Their discussion after the bells was more impactful than the bells. I wonder if Yuki realises how many times she and the others spoke over ‘Mother’. Mother making a compromise made me glad, but six months to reach a million subscribers is rough. I was kind of looking forward to the girls moving and finding a place for all of them in episode 7, but I am happy for them to stay in the manor.

Now they all have a reason to reach the one million subscriber goal. Although I am now confused due to the subbing. At the start of the episode they show that Mayopan has 30k and at the end of the episode Masaki says they have 20k subscribers. Which means has confused me. Which is it?

I finally have a little more information to answer my question: Who is Mother?
She is a powerful vampire who reigns in the vampires and keeps them in line. She ensures the vampires do not indiscriminately turn humans or draw attention to the existence of vampires.

Final thoughts on the episode:
Overall, Episode 6 marks a turning point for the series, introducing higher stakes and greater challenges for the characters. While the comedic elements are present, the overall tone of the episode is more serious, focusing on the characters’ personal struggles and the challenges they face as a group.
Recap of Key Points:
- The channel’s subscriber count reached either thirty or twenty thousand, and their Desert Island survival video gained two hundred thousand views.
- Banpia Manor’s destruction was severe enough to be featured on local news.
- The introduction of Mother as a powerful and influential vampire figure.

Questions I have and I hope that will be answered in the coming episodes:

- Where do the vampires get the blood?
- Will Masaki learn to seek internal approval and not look for it from outside sources of strangers on the internet?
- When will Masaki reveal she is part of Mayopan?
