I have seen a few people mention their favourite characters from Yu Yu Hakusho on various social media platforms. They mentioned why those characters were their favourites, and that got me curious. I have never watched Yu Yu Hakusho, and it has been on my list of anime I want to watch. I figured at just over 100 episodes, it would be a good time to start the anime now. It does help that the anime has a dub available. I aim to watch it during my lunch breaks while at work.

Yusuke was just a regular kid who liked to cause trouble at school. One day, he died when he pushed a little boy out of the way of a speeding car. But he got a second chance at life because no one had expected him to die that day or to save the child. He is tasked with hatching a spirit beast that will develop according to his actions. If he emits positive energy through good intentions and actions, he will be able to be revied. If he emits more negative than positive energy, the spirit beast will hatch and devour his soul.

Yu Yu Hakusho has 112 episodes, two movies, and 13 special/OVA episodes. I aim to watch 5 episodes per day. Which means I totaled up all of the movies and episodes and then divided all of that up by 5. That gave me 26 for the number of days it would take me to watch the current number of episodes and movies. To completely catch up on Yu Yu Hakusho will take me just under 4 weeks. I can have this anime done by the end of November 2023.

Which turns out to be good timing, as I saw that the anime and manga are getting live action series on Netflix this December. Here is my write-up and information on the upcoming Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action.

He looks like he is going to be a broody boy, and I love my broody characters, especially if they have tragic pasts, epic abilities, and cold personalities.

I am streaming Yu Yu Hakusho on Netflix.

  1. Eventually I will watch the series. Right now I am reading the manga and it’s super good. I think I enjoy this series than Hunter x Hunter. I like Yusuke and Kurama.

  2. Oo, this is such a good anime! Though it is kind of long. I first watch this series years ago, and recently decided to re-watch it, the second time around I liked it even more. When I was a kid my least favorite character was Kuwabara, but strangely enough, the second time I watched the series Kuwabara become my favorite character!
