I overslept yesterday morning, so everything is behind, and my stress levels are up. But I got this. Well, I keep telling myself that anyway. I started watching some of the Wednesday anime releases last week, so for today, I will rewatch those episodes, but I will probably give a shorter review and impression of those episodes. I have ten episodes to get through from six anime. This is going to be another long post, but hopefully, that means I will be all caught up for next week. Since I am working late to make up for my oversleeping and a few other factors, I have made a deal with myself, x amount of progress means I get to watch a seasonal release. I finished watching and reviewing the anime at 2am. I polished this up and did all the admin side today.

The six Wednesday seasonal anime I am watching:

Here are six of the seasonal anime that are airing on Wednesdays, and I’m watching and reviewing them on Thursdays. Each title below is linked to its respective section, so feel free to jump straight to the one you’re following or most curious about:

  1. Me and the Alien MuuMuu (4.5/5)
  2. MUZIK TIGER In the Forest (4/5)
  3. Please Put Them On, Takamine-san (1/5)
  4. The Beginning After the End (4.5/5)
  5. The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom (4/5)
  6. YOUR FORMA (3/5)

This lineup will shift as the season progresses. Some shows might drop off, and others could be added on as more anime gets released in the coming weeks. Each week will be a little different, and to me that is part of the fun!

The scores you see above reflect my overall impressions of the latest episode I watched for each anime. In the sections that follow, I’ll break down what stood out (for better or worse), from story progression and animation quality to character development and emotional impact.

Let’s dive into the episode impressions!

  • Episode 1: Mumu and the Microwave
  • Release date: 9 April 2025
  • Prime Video
  • Episode Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5/5)
    • Funny, whimsical, and unexpectedly insightful
Me and the Alien MuuMuu Uchuujin MuuMuu 1.mkv snapshot 06.16.529

This has such a fun title. The space shots were gorgeous. IT’S A KITTY CAT WEARING A COLLAR AND TIE! I am sold. Assassinating the engineers and intellectuals honestly does not seem like it would stop wars, that was an interesting decision that the planet had made. I was not expecting a lesson on how microwaves work or a critique on how replaceable we view our devices. I would be so upset with MuuMuu for dismantling appliance after appliance. I feel so bad for Sakurako, who is putting up with the alien’s antics. That is going to get expensive for her really quickly. I adore that the framing of the dominant species on Earth is explained by showing people who adore cats. A lesson on how fridges work is interesting, too. Excuse you, what’s wrong with talking to a cat? At this moment in time, I am not a fan of Miwa Samezu. First, her ‘ew’ comment for talking to cats and then her pressuring Sakurako. Then she has the nerve to berrate her when Sakurako did not mark attendance for her, when she does not even attend that class. We also find out about the bullying. I liked Akihiro with the short curry interaction, and then he instantly rose to adore when he dumped water on Miwa and called her out for how she was treating Sakurako. I did laugh out loud at the ‘you’re face is melting’ comment from a random background character. Yeah, I like Akihiro, I just wish he had spoken up sooner – not in the episode, but in general. I love that MuMu is an idiot and that Sakurako is finding ways to understand things herself and then explaining them to MuMu in really simple and easy ways.

Verdict: A clever blend of cat-core absurdity and sci-fi with surprisingly thoughtful commentary. If MuuMuu keeps dismantling things, Sakurako might need therapy and a part-time job. Love the energy.

  • Episode 1: A Day in the Muzik Forest
  • Release date: 2 April 2025
  • YouTube
  • Episode Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
    • Adorably ambient and simple, like a visual cuddle
Muzik Tiger In the Forest 1.webm snapshot 00.41.739

There is no significant dialogue in this, just basically cute noises and sounds. There might be a word or two here and there, but I barely noticed. Paired with the cute animals doing day-to-day things, it is mindlessly adorable, and I appreciate this for what it is: a short, quick breather of a show. Its run time is only a minute long, so really, I am taking longer to write this than I did to watch these adorable characters on screen. This episode shows the characters each doing their own thing, from being bored and hopping around a tree to painting and rolling on the grass. Their day then wraps up as they gather together for chicken and drinks, my best guess is beer. Cute.

Verdict: No dialogue needed when the cuteness carries the entire minute. A delightful brain break and serotonin boost in bite-sized form.

  • Episode 2: Walking Watermelon?
  • Release date: 9 April 2025
  • Episode Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
    • Ingenious simplicity and heartwarming teamwork made this a micro-masterpiece.
Muzik Tiger In the Forest 2.mp4 snapshot 00.53.731

The episode opens to a watermelon field where the tiger stumbles upon a watermelon that is seemingly moving on its own. The animation is really cleverly done. Honestly, no dialogue is needed as the sound and animation let us know what is going on and what these characters are thinking and feeling. It comes together in such simplicity that it is brilliant. When the tiger goes to try and catch the watermelon, it moves again making the tiger think. He then picks up the watermelon to see his mouse friend tied to it so that it could carry the watermelon. Tiger then helps the mouse pick the watermelons, and once they are done, they enjoy a watermelon together.

I went to the anime’s website to make sure I am getting the animal types correct and it turns out they have names too! The orange tiger is Toffee and the white mouse is Willy. They have bios on the site which are adorable.

Verdict: Minimalism done right, wordless storytelling with charm and creativity. Willy and Toffee are already iconic.

  • Episode 1: Become My Closet
  • Release date: 2 April 2025
  • Crunchyroll
  • Episode Score: ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
    • Visually polished but morally problematic, uncomfortable, and rapidly offensive.
Please Put Them On Takamine san Haite Kudasai Takamine san 1.mkv snapshot 08.11.257

It looks like it is set up to be a typical ecchi anime pairing the popular girl and the average guy. I did not anticipate this being uncensored on Cruncyroll and I also did not anticipate the amount of times we see Takane’s bare boobs. The animation is bright and colourful, and the characters are sufficiently detailed, with obviously a lot more attention to detail on Takane. I am glad that Koushi is shown to be a typical, well-mannered but teenage boy with teenage thoughts and reactions. Why is no one reacting to her taking off her underwear? There is a lot of time where she lifts her skirt, enough for Koushi to question ‘what the heck’ and is getting no reaction from the class who she is carefully removing her panties in front of. Is that part of the ‘magic’? The magic sequence is a tad too long, in my personal opinion. I am surprised he decided to ask Takane straight out and clarify what he experienced. If looks could kill, I am glad they don’t because the look she gave Koushi was lethal. I get she wants him to realise she no longer has a bra on, but why is she making him wipe her boobs to dry them? And then to kick him in the nether regions because he did not realise just seems uncalled for. She has a very strong opinion of herself. This is a ‘I need to my brain off’ kind of anime. Her explanation of her ability seems flawed. There is a lot that we just need to look past. Also, a side note: her ability is expensive, replacing all of that underwear. I can get behind carrying a change of underwear for her, considering this is an ecchi comedy, but expecting him to help her change into it is becoming borderline. She has a very low opinion of him. I am glad that he recognised her offer as insane and decided to go home for the day. Okay, this lost me. I am out. Takane’s actions have put me off the anime. There is no recovery for what she has done. I will not be able to support this as a romance anime. This set a new record for me. I was so hoping to enjoy this as a mindless but fun ecchi romance, never mind.

Verdict: Started as guilty-pleasure potential but quickly devolved into disturbing content masquerading as comedy. No thank you. Hard pass.

  • Episode 1: The Rebirth of the King
  • Release date: 2 April 2025
  • Crunchyroll
  • Episode Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
    • Epic Rebirth with Soft Family Feels
The Beginning After The End S11.mkv snapshot 21.00.956

I am really looking forward to this series; I have been reading this webtoon for years. It is so nice to see an isekai rebirth story where they go through the baby years and include more than just breastfeeding. This was sprinkled naturally throughout the entire episode. It was also nice to see involved parents. I really enjoyed how the episode paralleled Arthur’s current life with his past through visuals and narration throughout the episode. There was quite a bit of world-building was established in this episode as well as letting us get to know the happy home Arthur now has, especially compared to his past life. It also set us up for Arthur to be advanced. The magic system is similar to Ki from his past; he has battle experience and training that he can call on. His past is setting him up to have an advantage in this world, and the episode is making sure that his future achievements are not pure luck or chance. The time progression feels natural too. From baby to toddler, we knew how his day-to-day was without needing to see every moment. The way that Alice caves to her son’s pleading puppy eyes is understandable. Reynolds shielding his wife with his body immediately as their house blew up melted my heart, just like it did when I read it for the first time. Seeing his back afterwards made me flinch, I just know that’s painful. Then, when he heard his son was in the house, he rushed in with his wife. I can understand why they were shocked to find their son floating in the air. I love seeing how quick they were to respond to their child being in danger and working as a team, mom shielding her child with her body and dad protecting his wife and child. It was also great to see that Arthur acknowledges that they care for him and are his family, even if he doesn’t understand it just yet. I really appreciated that family was a core feature of this episode. Oh yes, the animation was clean, and I enjoyed the art style.

Verdict: A great start; emotional, visually pleasing, and rooted in genuine family bonds. The groundwork is laid with care.

  • Episode 2: The King, Under Attack
  • Release date: 9 April 2025
  • Episode Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5/5)
    • Solid follow-up with good character growth; action scenes need refining
wednesday anime

The opening sequence of Arthur’s past self, killing his would-be assassin’s wife and daughter, as mercy is rough to watch. Especially when you know that, that was not what the would-be assassin meant when he begged for mercy for his family. Arthur is now four and already leaving Reynolds stunned with his talent. I am glad that he pushed for Arthur to get an actual teacher, even as Alice argued against it because that would mean sending him away. Glad to see the loving family dynamic is still going strong. Moving as a family to get Arthur, a teacher is a smart move, as then they can stay together. I enjoyed the introduction of the new characters, as well as the way the party was introduced. I am starting to worry about the ‘action’ sequences. They are not bad; I just hope that with future episodes, they improve since this is quite an action-filled series with a lot of movement. I enjoyed watching Reynolds pace his pushups to match his son’s pace. Plus, as the group travelled, Arthur was exposed to quite a few temporary teachers with his parents’ old party members. The bond between Arthur and Jasmine is sweet, and I enjoyed revisiting how it starts. I think during the bandit attack was the first time ever that Arthur had been tasked with protecting someone. That is also one heck of a way to find out that your mom is pregnant. Arthur then questioning if what is happening right now is karma from his previous life is a clever way to tie in the opening sequence. I do enjoy Arthur’s reflective moments where they reveal where he has changed and gained new perspective. I am glad that I don’t skip the after-credit scenes.

Verdict: Strong emotional beats and character development. Some action moments need tightening, but the narrative is solid and engaging.

  • Episode 1: The Saint Who Never Smiled
  • Release date: 2 April 2025
  • Crunchyroll
  • Episode Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
    • Exactly what it says on the tin—and I liked it.
The Too Perfect Saint 1.mkv snapshot 16.29.321

I am glad that the opening explained the importance of saints in this world and explained that there are more than just one saint. I don’t see what the issue is with someone who doesn’t smile. Oh wow, being sold to another kingdom seems like a blessing with a mother like that and people purposefully setting you up to fail. I hope it’s not her whole family that are abusive towards her. No wonder she doesn’t smile. She has disconnected to protect herself, neutral is her shield. The backdrops are unique, and the character designs are pretty. Especially when they do a close-up of the eyes and face. Oh poor baby, Philia Adenauer, she has had such a rough start. No wonder she has such low self-esteem and a bad self-image. She needs to get away from the toxic people around her. Even the people she is helping don’t really appreciate her. I hope she quickly finds happiness, self-worth, and self-esteem. As well as surround herself with people who genuinely appreciate and care for her. It’s just one scummy person after another. I hope this kingdom falls apart without her and the new kingdom flourishes. I hope Mia is genuine. They are such garbage, taking so much joy in hurting her so much. I am glad that the new kingdom welcomed her warmly.

Verdict: A heartbreaking yet compelling introduction that delivers emotional weight without melodrama. Philia’s trauma is presented with care, and her silent suffering is powerful. The world is beautiful, the cruelty is palpable, and the stage is set for a deeply satisfying healing arc. I’m instantly rooting for her escape and growth.

  • Episode 2: Welcome to Parnacorta
  • Release date: 9 April 2025
  • Episode Score: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
    • A warm and tender follow-up that begins her path to healing—while keeping emotional realism front and centre.
The Too Perfect Saint 2.mkv snapshot 15.53.455

The warm and excited welcome to the kingdom is so welcome on my end. It hurts to see her so confused at this warm and welcoming gesture. I already like Prince Oswald as a character. The more screen time he gets, the more I like him. I am glad that they are not showing her magically getting over her hurt and trauma. It hurts to see, but it makes it more realistic and believable. It creates credibility in these characters and this world. I really hope this is a healing series, and I hope we get to see and share in Philia’s journey. I am appreciating the long hair of the male characters. I am so glad she was provided with capable aids. Her aids are in for a rough time. I really hope they get into the groove with her soon and make her pace herself. As well as give her the chance to get to know herself and what she would like. Getting the sister Mia’s perspective at the end of this episode surprised me. I wondered if we would get to see how things are going for her and the kingdom. I am glad that she seems to genuinely love her sister. I am glad the kingdom is feeling the effects of her absence so quickly. I hope Mia figures out what happened and retaliates.

Verdict: A warm, emotional continuation that doesn’t rush recovery. Prince Oswald and the aides offer hope, while the glimpses into Mia’s perspective add welcome nuance. There’s a realism in Philia’s confusion and hesitation to accept kindness that makes this episode feel genuine and meaningful.

  • Episode 1: Mechanical Friends Amicus Robots
  • Release date: 2 April 2025
  • Prime Video
  • Episode Score: ⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ (2/5)
    • Visually cool, but emotionally disconnected.
Your Forma 1.mkv snapshot 19.43.669

I am enjoying the camera angles. The bio for the painting on the roof was interesting, and I just found one of my biggest nightmares: looking around a mall and having pop-up ads swarm you. That would make shopping incredibly frustrating, and all those ads would be overstimulating, not to mention distracting. We are diving straight into the depend with this plot. I don’t know who anyone is outside of their job title. Apparently, one is an android and the other has had something happen with her sister and a pendant. What happened last time that Bigga was trying to make up for? I feel like we are missing a chunk of the story, as if we are in the middle. I double-checked, and this is not episode one of season two. For the first episode, the setting up of the world and characters is not great. Setting up a situation to hopefully get to know the characters, what is happening and hopefully piece this world together, it’s okay. Honestly, this was not a strong start, as there was no emotional weight to the viewer behind the stakes that the episode was presenting. There were also a lot of terms thrown around that I felt I needed to grasp quickly without even the briefest of explanation, I just need to roll with it. So roll I shall attempt. Side note, I would get so annoyed with the tech that has everything pop up and be visual.

Verdict: A visually engaging but narratively confusing start. The world is intriguing, but it’s overwhelming without context or emotional grounding. Characters are distant, stakes lack impact, and it feels more like a mid-season episode than a beginning. A weak opener that left me disoriented and underwhelmed.

  • Episode 2: A Black Box

wednesday anime

There it is, missing information from episode one. I am so glad Amicus Robots finally got a little more information. This is making me wonder if I watched the episodes in the wrong order, but I know I didn’t. The title card proved it. The music does a good job of setting an eerie and intriguing feeling. I don’t mind a lot of dialogue in a series, but some of this feels like people are saying a lot but not really saying anything. I really want to like the world; I love a good sci-fi detective mystery and series. I am finally starting to connect to a character, and ironically enough, it’s to Harold, the android. The animation is good, and the characters are also starting to grow on me as we learn more about them. I think the future episodes have the potential to get more interesting. I still feel like I am missing a cour, though.

Verdict: A clearer, more character-driven entry that starts to connect the dots. Harold stands out, and the eerie tone works well, but it still feels like a puzzle missing key pieces. I’m finally finding foothing in the narrative, but the show has some catching up to do to get my full investment.

Me and the Alien MuuMuu Uchuujin MuuMuu 1.mkv snapshot 23.28.099

This Wednesday’s lineup had some seriously strong contenders, with a couple of standout surprises and one major disappointment. “Me and the Alien MuuMuu” charmed me with its cat-core absurdity, heart, and subtle social commentary—definitely the most unexpectedly thoughtful pick of the week. “MUZIK TIGER In the Forest” was pure serotonin in motion, and I’m still not over how clever that watermelon episode was. Both of these were small gems in their own right.

“The Beginning After the End” delivered exactly what I hoped for and more. I’m thrilled to finally see it adapted and even happier that the animation and emotional beats hit so well. I feel like this will become one of the big titles of the season for me if it keeps up the momentum.

On the flip side, “Please Put Them On, Takamine-san” was an immediate drop. It crossed lines I personally can’t overlook, and what could’ve been cheeky ecchi humour quickly turned into discomfort and disbelief. Not something I’m willing to give more time.

“YOUR FORMA” was intriguing but felt a bit too clinical. It has promise, but it needs to balance its tone better going forward. Meanwhile, “The Too-Perfect Saint” showed potential and emotional weight beneath the tropes, one to keep an eye on.

Anime I Am Most Looking Forward to Next Week Wednesday:

The Beginning After The End S12.mkv snapshot 22.38.549

Without a doubt, “The Beginning After the End.” The source material holds a special place in my heart, and so far the adaptation is doing it justice. I’m invested in how Arthur’s journey is brought to life, especially those family dynamics. Closely behind it is “Me and the Alien MuuMuu,” because I need to know what MuMuu will accidentally destroy next.

Any I’m considering binging instead of watching weekly or dropping outright?

wednesday anime

I wish I could say that I am not and that it is too soon to judge as I did with Monday and Tuesday’s anime selection. However, this had an anime episode that I at first really enjoyed, then the last five minutes ruined it for me and ensured that I would not watch further. I have a full article on why I dropped it, The Fastest I Dropped an Anime in My Life. I am already considering YOUR FORMA as more of a binge watch. If the pacing continues to feel stiff after episode 5, I might hold off and watch this in one go once more episodes are out. It seems like a series that could benefit from a full-arc view rather than weekly bites.
