Akame, a Deadly Assassin

This post is a simple look at who Akame was as a character in the anime, Akame Ga Kill. I have kept the character break down spoiler-free as I can.

Looks

Akame has red eyes and long black hair that reaches to her knees. She wears a red tie and a red belt that has a crimson side skirt cover over a black, pleated skirt. It’s paired with black shoes and long black stockings. She also wears black gloves and red gauntlets. In battle, she occasionally wears a long dark coat. Murasame, her Teigu, is frequently spotted with her. Murasame’s trump card has left her with faded crimson scars all over her body.

Personality

Though Akame appears to be serious and cold-hearted, she is, in fact, merely socially awkward. Her colleagues are highly important to her, and she is constantly anxious that one of them will not survive due to her first hand experience in the military that combat always leads to a high death toll. After Tatsumi’s first mission, she stripped him to see if he was injured. If she can, she will help her friends when they are in need.

When it is discovered that a friend has died, she prefers to cover her emotions and make Tatsumi mistakenly believe that she is unaffected because she has gotten used to it. That being said, this drives her to break into tears and say that she cannot possibly be okay because she has lost a friend. Later, she is consoled by an apologetic Tatsumi, who promises to do his best to make her smile.

However, when she sees her adversaries, she says things like “eliminate” in order to let everyone know that she will not show mercy and to empower her desire to kill them.

Akame also loves to eat, and like her sister, she is quite the glutton. Sheele pointed out that Akame, who generally stays cool, became so hot when she burned some pork. She is also responsible for cooking the meals that begin each day’s base.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Due to the harsh training she went through as a child, Akame has shown superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, senses, and durability.

Although Akame is often viewed as one of the strongest members of Night Raid, she has defeated adversaries far more powerful than herself without even breaking a sweat. Following her terrible assassination training, she is in the same league with generals who are as powerful as Esdeath herself, who recognises her might. Akame is an incredibly talented swordswoman, and she is able to wield her Teigu Murasame with remarkable accuracy and precision. This has allowed her to defeat an immense number of adversaries, even formidable and powerful enemies.

Akame has enormous speed, agility, and reflexes, and is adept in hand-to-hand fighting. Her lack of killing intent makes it difficult for the enemy to detect her when she fights. Additionally, she is resistant to most toxins.

Either with Murasame or without, Akame has demonstrated to be a deadly and dangerous fighter. Even though she has a stern personality, she genuinely cares about her teammates. However, she can sometimes be a Lone Wolf, which may affect the cohesion of the squad.
