Looking back, I can not believe that I have been blogging and running All About Anime and Manga for five years already. I knew the blogiversary was headed my way but still, it boggles my mind. I thought it would provide a great chance to have a look at the nitty gritty side of the blog and then share my findings.

What my stats have shown me:
A post I wrote one year, will probably only really get traction in another. While at the time I had been disheartened that the post did not do as well as I had hoped when I first published it, most of my posts I have come to realise are slow burners. They don’t get the instant recognition but over time they draw in their own traffic and views. Some slow burners really surprised me with their sudden rise in popularity.
People like lists. If it consolidated into a numbered list, more people will gravitate towards it. I am not particularly a list type of person or blogger but over the years I have leaned more and more towards them. However, I try to have aspects that are unique to my style and my blog. I have come across so many lists that are practically the same even if the write up is different. So personally, I have found that experience boring and repetitive.
I don’t have enough posts meeting the search terms. My search terms go beyond the top ones mentioned per year above. I look at the terms and wonder, how many pages or images on Google did you scroll through to find my post with that search term? I have started to contemplate writing posts according to search terms on my blog but at the same time, I write mainly for me. It took a while, but I have made peace with the fact that I am not a regular blogger and that I am a presence in my community and a few people appreciate my years of anime viewing for my recommendations and opinions.
Number of likes on the posts do not determine their popularity or readership. Some of my most liked posts have the lower number of readers and vice-versa. I won’t lie, those likes are gratifying and comments on posts even more so, but they are not the mark of a successful or failed post. A lot of my interaction with readers and followers are outside of the blog itself.

Lastly, I just want to say, a massive thank you for joining me on my anime journey through the blog, social media, events and so much more. You all have made the exploration of anime so much more rewarding.
