Coloured pages, interesting characters and a real mind fuck. I knew none of this going in. I randomly saw the manga and figured why not and sat down and dived right in. Another one of those where I should have read the description. If I had I would have known it was not a light read.

Jesse Brown wakes up without any memory. He does not know who he is or where he is. However there is Law, who is proclaiming to be his Lover and carer. Jesse doubts his story and it is only worsened when he catches Law with a maid. In a secluded manor surrounded by snow and servants who seem to keep loosing their memories, Jessie tries to remember his past while fighting against demons that plague his dreams. Haunted by his dead mother, did he also take part in the mysterious Moritat? Plus is Law really who he says he is and is he genuine about his feelings? Did Jesse really rely and trust Law as the others claim?
I was really surprised at the colour pages since this is still classified as a manga. The art work is detailed and the opening for this story is great. You first see one guy push another off a cliff. Yeah, from that I should have known this would be slightly twisted but I still was slow on the uptake. At least until the guy who had been pushed down the cliff woke up and had no memories of what had happened. Not just of the fall but of anything really.
I’ll say this now and get it out of the way, the yaoi is more ‘soft yaoi’ as there are no explicit or graphic ‘yaoi’ scenes. It is hinted at and suggested but not clearly shown. So yea you know what went down but don’t actually see anything.
However if you are like me, you will stay for the story. This was a real mind screw as I was left wondering what was really going on, like any mystery worth its salt. I kept reading just to know what the heck was going on and to see what would happen next. I was really curious to see if Law was who he said he was and if Jesse would regain his memories.
I really want to honestly see how Jesse and Law will work with the way that they have both treated one another. Although I think that Law went to the extreme. Both Law and Jesse are really clever just in different ways. They both play with and manipulate each other trying to gauge the reaction if there is any at all. This left Law feeling desperate just to know how Jesse really felt.
They both have such a unique way of thinking and at times they really do make warped sense. To the point where you can agree with their logic. Overall it was a good read and I am waiting for the future chapters to come out.
Will you or have you read Moritat? Would love to know what you think in the comments below!
