Monday saw the end of another of my 21-day challenges. This time around I had been challenged to watch genre’s that I don’t usually watch. That meant that I would be watching anime from mainly the mecha genre over the course of the 21 days as well as touching base with the slice of life genre.
I started off by posting images on my social platforms using screenshots to prove that I had in fact watched those episodes each day, but this became challenging as the process was somewhat distracting.
Otherwise, listed below are the anime that I have watched these past 21 days falling into the Mecha and Slice of Life genre.
Mecha:
- Hundred
- Active Raid
- Cyborg 009
- A.I.C.O: Incarnation
Slice of Life:
- Mushi-Shi
- Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
- Violet Evergarden
Hmm, now that I have listed it out like that I am pretty surprised that I managed to watch seven series and only got annoyed with two of them. I was also surprised by the three Slice of Life that I watched. I had not expected them to belong to the slice of life genre.
This has opened my eyes to my resistance to watching these two genres and made me rethink it. I shall not be so quick to judge an anime just by the genre listing.
A big thank you for suggesting I do this challenge!
Day 1/21 Watching anime from a genre I don’t usually watch. Today I watched the 1st epi #Anime: Hundred Genre: Action, Ecchi, Harem, Mecha, Romance, School, Sci-Fi Episodes: 12 Left me wanting the next episode but also made me wonder what the heck are they wearing?
Day 2/21 #challenge: Watch a genre I don’t usually watch. #Anime: Hundred #Genre: Mecha? Tonight I watched episode 2, hopefully I can watch more than one a day… I think this anime is an ecchi train with a hint of other genres 😂 I enjoyed the action though, was pretty cool😎
Day 3/21 #Challenge: watch a genre I don’t usually #Genre: Mecha #Anime: Hundred I finally watched more than 1 episode! ~Epi 3: A dire situation, big speech, dramatic reveal, ecchi end ~Epi 4: A random request, marriage proposal, bath scene, awkward (ecchi) fall, some bad guys What do you think of my summary skills? 😂 I am doubting the mecha-ness of this anime 🤖
Day 4/21 #Challenge: watching a genre I usually don’t #Genre: Mecha 🙈 #Anime: Hundred Ecchi start, awkward slip, forced date, stalking, secondary forced date, emotional back story, start of an attack ~ ends epi 5 I don’t get why the girls are so gaga over him💭
Day 5/21 #Challenge: Watch a genre I don’t usually watch #Genre: Mecha #Anime: Active Raid I dropped Hundred to finish watching this anime, since this one is an actual mecha 😂 I’ll get back to Hundred but not for this challenge 😊 Next up, slice of life, any recommendations?
Day 6/21 #Challenge: watch an anime genre I don’t usually watch #Genre: Slice of Life #Anime: Mushishi I just finished the first episode and it was actually surprisingly pretty interesting. I loved the concept and the scenery shots appealed to the tree hugger in me😍
Day 7/21 #challenge: Watch a genre I don’t usually #Anime: Mushi-Shi I watched 3 episodes tonight and gotta say as weird as this show is at times, it’s also captivating. Forced to watch 360p (on YouTube) for this, thanks to slow internet, I hope it is fixed soon.
Know anyone else who would enjoy this post?
